In Loving Memory Shirley Jean (Smith) Chase APRIL 15,1937 - March 15, 2024
Shirley Jean (Smith) Chase of Stamford, Texas passed from this earth after a long illness on March 15, 2024, at the age of 86.
Shirley was born on April 15, 1937, to Claude Smith and Opal Clara Sims Smith in Stamford, Texas. Shirley spent her life caring for others through her profession in healthcare as a registered nurse until her retirement. She was a God-fearing woman who was a devoted member at Temple Baptist Church.
Shirley had two loves in her life, her Lord and Savior, and Weldon Marin Chase who she married on December 4, 1953, in Stamford, Texas where they happily made their home until Weldon’s death in October of 2010.
Weldon along with her parents preceded her in death. She leaves behind her cousins Chuck Prewit and wife Monica of Avoca, Texas and Jimmy Sims of Jayton, Texas, a sister-in-law, Geneva Chase as well as other extended family and friends.
Services for Shirley were at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Tankersley Funeral Home (807 Columbia) Stamford, Texas with Rev. Jesse Morton officiating. Burial followed at 2:00 p.m. in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, Texas under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Temple Baptist Church or any charity of their choice.
