In Loving Memory Milton Hinze April 14, 1967 - February 25, 2024
Milton Hinze, 85, passed away in the loving arms of his wife, Billie on Sunday, February 25, 2024, in Abilene, TX.
Born March 7, 1938, in Stamford, Texas, Milton Dale Hinze was the son of the late Alvin and Elsie (Roeber) Hinze. Milton grew up south of Stamford on the family farm that was founded by his great grandparents in 1901. After graduating from Stamford High School, Milton continued his education at Texas Lutheran College where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Miss Billie Fowler became Milton’s life partner in marriage on April 14, 1967, in Baytown, Texas. A union that celebrated almost 57 years of marriage and the blessing of their 3 children: David, Adam, and Sonya.
Milton worked at Phillips Petroleum for 14 years as Assistant Manager of Retail Marketing before changing careers to work at Toter Inc. Milton was a top Sales Manager for Toter during his tenure with the company. Milton and Billie lived in Cypress, Marble Falls and Houston throughout their working careers. In 2011 Billie and Milton moved back to Milton’s childhood roots to pursue his love of farming and raising cattle. Milton, however continued working for Toter until 2018 when he finally retired. Milton was a kind, patient, gentle and approachable, man in both his business and personal life. He helped many friends and co-workers by giving them good sound advice when sought out. Milton was a peace maker and a problem solver.
Milton was devoted to his family as a husband, father, granddad, and friend to many. He and Billie enjoyed traveling together and were members of the Bethel Lutheran Church where he was a lifetime member.
Milton was predeceased by his parents, Alvin and Elsie Hinze, and a brother Gene Hinze. Milton’s legacy will carry on thorough his wife, Billie Hinze (nee Fowler); son and daughter-in-law, David Richard and Linda Hinze, son, James Adam Hinze and wife Gina, daughter and son-in-law, Sonya Kristin and Kevin Harrison; 5 grandchildren, Alicia Hinze, James Adam Hinze, Jr., Sarah Elizabeth Harrison, William Charles Harrison and Hailey Marie and Romiro Sarmiento: 4 great grandchildren, Averie Sarmiento, Jax Sarmiento, Abigale Sarmiento, and Ryleigh Sarmiento; 1 sister, Carol Reynolds; 1 niece, April Gibbs; 1 great nephew, Kyle Gibbs; a host of other relatives and friends.
The family gathered for visitation at Tankersley Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Milton’s life was remembered at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 29th during Funeral Services held at Bethel Lutheran Church in the Ericksdahl Community with Rev. Richard Strait officiating. Burial followed in the Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
