Maria Cruz Cantu May 3, 1928 - December 30, 2023

Maria Cruz Cantu, 95, of Abilene formerly of Stamford passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023 in Abilene. The family received visitors from 6:00 – 7:00 Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in the Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home. Funeral service was at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at the Orient Street Church of Christ with Wes Horn officiating. Burial followed in the Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home. Maria was born May 3, 1928 in Aqualeguas, Mexico to Ladislado and Manuela (Gutiérrez) San Miguel. She married Longino Cantu on February 11, 1945 in Agualeguas, Mexico. They moved to Stamford in 1961. He passed away February 7, 1992. She was a member of the Orient Street Church of Christ and enjoyed cooking for her family and her church family. She loved her children but was a momma that adored her boys. Some of her favorite past times were shopping, dancing and singing. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; three brothers Ricardo San Miguel, Refugio San Miguel and Paulino San Miguel; two sisters Marcelina Villareal and Celestina Salinas; a grandson Terry Gallardo. She is lovingly survived by her children Nancy and Craig Aylsworth of Canton, MI, Nick and Minnie Cantu of Stamford, Irma Saldana of Abilene, Nina and Edward McClintock of Stamford, Lesvia Deanda of Stamford, Junior and Julie Cantu of Lake Stamford, Billy Cantu of Abilene, and Sylvia Cantu of Abilene; 1 sister Cipiriana Garza of Roma, Texas; 25 grandchildren; 64 Great grandchildren; 18 Great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
