Murray Stasny June 3, 1942 - December 19, 2023

Jimmy Moorefield, a longtime resident of Stamford, TX, died unexpectedly on December 9, 2023, at the age of 85. Jimmy was survived by his wife, Phyllis Moorefield of Plant City, FL; eight children: Karen Lee and husband Doyle of Hamlin, TX, Karla Hicks and husband Thomas of Lueders, TX, Kathy Koonce and husband Rick of Lueders, TX, Kimela Moorefield of Lueders, TX, James Bud Moorefield of Lueders, TX, Waylon Moorefield and wife Kim of Michigan, Daylon Moorefield of Waco, TX, Kelly Pridgen and husband David of Valrico, FL; 1 sister Carolyn Inskeep of Waco, TX; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, numerous other relatives and friends. Jimmy Carl Moorefield was born in Eldorado, Arkansas on January 15, 1938, to Claude and Mary Ann (Swarna) Moorefield. He received his formal education in Arkansas. As a Greyhound bus driver, Jimmy, who never met a stranger was in his element visiting with people, telling stories, jokes and delivering folks to their foreseen destinations. On December 23, 1959, in Cleburne, TX he married Bonnie Catheryn Burdett. Bonnie preceded Jimmy in death on December 16, 2002. Later Jimmy married Phyllis Kay. Jimmy was a Christian, a devoted father, grandpa, and great grandpa. He enjoyed playing bingo and dominos with family and friends. Jimmy was a crafter in woodworking, an amateur picture painter and enjoyed the outdoors spending time at the lake fishing. Preceding Jimmy in death are his parents Claude and Mary Ann Moorefield, his wife, Bonnie Moorefield, brother Claude Moorefield, Jr., great grandson Ryan Moorefield. A funeral service was scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at the Avoca Methodist Church. Dennis Huffaker will officiate. Burial followed in the Neinda Cemetery in Jones County, TX under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home. The family gathered for visitation Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Tankersley Funeral Home, 807 Columbia, Stamford, TX.
